Cheaper and faster low-volume production

An automotive manufacturing company approached Omni3D with a request to print a custom part of a police car body component.

The main goal was to finalize the project quickly while staying on budget. Instead of having to produce an expensive injection mold, we used the capabilities of the Factory 2.0 industrial printer.

Priority was given to ensuring that every detail of the model was met. The item had to be made according to detailed specifications and technical requirements, as well as safety standards. It was imperative that it be easy to install and durable enough to serve a safety function.

We chose a material characterized by durability and mechanical strength, as well as ease of processing, i.e. ABS-42. Precision of printing was ensured by our Factory 2.0 printer.

The use of 3D printing was the best solution for producing components for 100 cars. Choosing a traditional method would have been less cost-effective and more time-consuming – Maciej Bartkowiak, Volkswagen

This proves that 3D printing is ideal for the production of low-volume, personalized vehicles, i.e. police cars, ambulances, campers or vans. This is where 3D printing technology is much faster and cheaper than the traditional injection molding method.
